Book Mobile

The Madeline books were on my list to buy for Bea and then she was given two for her birthday!  She absolutely loves the original Madeline and I think we've read it for every nap and bedtime for the past two weeks.  And I think the illustrations are so beautiful, I'm considering buying another copy and framing some of them.

Book Mobile

The Invisible String was a Christmas gift for Bea from a close friend of ours.  In it a set of twins are awoken by a storm outside and go to find their mother who tells them the story of the invisible string that connects them to her no matter where they are and so they have nothing to fear.

We've just started reading books that are a little bit longer than she's used to and this was an instant hit.  I think we must have read it a hundred times the first week we had it.  And with such a sweet message I didn't mind one bit!

Book Mobile

When we lived in Brooklyn our apartment was across the street from a Barnes & Noble so you can imagine how much time we spent there looking for new books for Bea, checking out magazines for me, or just having a coffee in the Starbucks.  I came across On The Night You Were Born right around Bea's first birthday and was so happy to discover that the author, Nancy Tillman, has several children's books.

It quickly became one of Bea's favorites and we still read it at least once a week.  It's a sweet little story about how special each child is and how no one is the same.

Bea received two more of Nancy's books over Christmas, The Crown on Your Head and Wherever You Are My Love Will Find You, and I can't wait to read those to her.

Book Mobile

It's been awhile since I've written a Book Mobile post, mainly because I can't shake this exhaustion.  But, we seem to have a running theme in our house lately surrounding nap time and bed time and it's this wonderful series, the Good Night Our World series.

My husband bought Bea her first book on a business trip and it's now become a tradition for him (or her aunt or grandmother) to pick one up whenever they see one.  They all follow the same idea, telling about the sights to see in a particular location, but for some reason this series holds her attention like nothing else.  She goes back to them over and over, and not just the same one, she will alternate them as well (which is a relief to me).  And not only does she love for us to read them, but will sit for 30 minutes (a lifetime in toddler land) alone and "read" to herself.  So, based on all of this, I wanted to give them a shout out on my Book Mobile!

You can purchase them at most major online retailers and here's a link to the site.

Book Mobile

Bea loves to read and I'm always looking for books to add to our collection.  We currently have a combination of books that were mine growing up and ones that we've purchased or were given as gifts.  So, I thought I'd list a few she likes every week and would love to hear back from you on what your kids love!

My Good Morning Book was a book of mine growing up.  I don't really remember it but Bea is constantly drawn to it.  If you have a toddler (or are going to soon) you will quickly find out they love repetition and this definitely includes books.  This is a sweet story about a little boy and his morning routine.  Nothing fancy, but really cute.  We're currently on the hunt for My Good Night Book!

Pat the Bunny by Dorothy Kunhardt is a children's classic.  I read this a lot to Bea when she was much smaller and she's had a renewed love affair with it in the last few months.  She loves to point out Paul and Judy and do the things that they do.  In fact, she has loved it a little too much, we're now missing the front and back covers and I fear the rest is soon to follow!

I'd love to hear your thoughts on favorite children's books of yours and your kids!
